01 - In a small saucepan, combine water, cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, cloves, and ground nutmeg. Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat.
02 - Reduce heat and simmer for 3 minutes to infuse the spices.
03 - Add ground coffee to the saucepan and simmer for an additional 2 minutes.
04 - Remove from heat and allow to steep for 2 minutes.
05 - Strain the spiced coffee through a fine mesh sieve or coffee filter into serving cups.
06 - Stir in sweetener and milk or milk alternative if desired. Serve hot.
